About
We're making it easy to share rides with friendly people. If you're going on a trip, you can list extra seat space in your car, and if you need to get somewhere, you can find a ride, using our site. Read more about how it works or what our users have to say about us.
In mid-2011, the three of us decided to team up and make sharing rides better. Our first project was BurningManRides.com, which earned us a lot of "playa high-fives" and thank-yous from around the world. And now we're helping people get rides all year long.
It'll be a long but joyful journey. Come join us for the ride!
Kalvin, Randy, Jason, Margot and Seth
Kalvin
Kalvin once got six rides from five different friends in the Bay Area on the same day. After experiencing the transportation system in Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia, including a 36-hour bus ride, he found 101 (the highway) much more pleasant. He has consumed collaboratively while thinking about technology and scalable social change, since age three.
He believes the world is broken, and you should help fix it. Save a whale, dump the tea, or sign up now for Ridejoy. Or come join us in SF.
Prior to Ridejoy, Kalvin grew up in the Bay Area, studied computer science at Stanford, and worked at six Silicon Valley companies during summers and after college, most recently for One Block Off the Grid, a solar web startup.

Randy
Randy first understood the joy of ridesharing during his post-graduation travels, where he was fortunate enough to experience the warmth and kindness of countless strangers turned friends. Though a hacker and a painter by trade, he is perhaps best classified as a dreamer driven by curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.
Prior to Ridejoy, Randy worked on one of the largest websites in the world, Scribd, crafting the future of reading and publishing. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Jason
Jason wants to help everyone experience the awesomeness of rideshare — and is determined to make this dream a reality. Trained in biology and philosophy and steeped in travel across three continents, he found himself thriving in the world of startups. Now at Ridejoy he focuses his time on delighting users and growing the Ridejoy community. In his spare time, he trains for his first marathon and blogs about conquering fear and doing great work.
Prior to Ridejoy, Jason worked at isocket, an ad tech company, and ran business operations for a local newspaper in the Bay Area. He holds a B.S. with honors and an M.S., both from Stanford University where he co-captained an NCAA championship-winning gymnastics team.

Margot
Margot thinks people are pretty terrific. As such, she's thrilled to be Ridejoy's community manager, where she's continually reminded of the awesomeness of strangers (a.k.a. friends you haven't met yet).
She's inspired by her phenomenal experiences with the CouchSurfing community in the UK, Hong Kong and China, and is also a big fan of road trips (nice scenery? check. awe-inspiring conversations? heck yeah. podcasts? most definitely!) Most of all, she loves talking to users, so feel free to give her a shout through the chat widget or margot@ridejoy.com.
Before joining Ridejoy, Margot worked in tech PR in San Francisco, in addition to corporate communications for a multinational conglomerate in Hong Kong. She studied Literature/Writing at UCSD and spent a semester abroad in the UK working on her undergrad creative writing dissertation.

Seth
Seth believes some of the most beautiful moments in life come from traveling, especially when it means being on the road with a group of friendly people. He once hopped into a van for three weeks (armed with nothing but his camera and a box of film) with an indie rock band he barely knew, just for the experience. This love of community and adventure, combined with his fascination with how humans interact with technology, is why he is thrilled to be Ridejoy's design lead. He hopes to make ride-sharing as simple, yet memorable, as possible.
Prior to Ridejoy, Seth worked at Gallup, an international polling and consulting company, where he helped create and define a strong digital brand and design intricate web applications. He studied Communication Design at Parsons in NYC, after beginning his studies in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.
